Alexander Sapov: I think that in the future, Cyprus can become one of the world’s global centres for mobility and travel startups

Alexander Sapov, CEO and Co-Founder of GetTransfer.com, a platform that simplifies travel by offering reliable airport transfers, hourly car rentals, and transportation services with professional drivers worldwide, shared his entrepreneurial story at INSPIRE 2025, during The Global Entrepreneur Stage: Technology Entrepreneurs – Turning Cyprus into a Global Technology and Innovation Hub panel.

“Our idea came from a personal travel experience that was negative,” Sapov explained. “For long-distance airport transfers, you often have to pay a lot of money. As passionate travellers, we thought — this can be better.”

Sapov emphasised the importance of simplicity in product design, “You need to focus on your product first. The simpler, the better — it should be understood even by an eight-year-old.”

Reflecting on challenges, he admitted that the pandemic was a major test, “Covid was a disaster, but now we are earning more than before. Big experience is not always necessary. Sometimes when you cut costs, metrics go down, but sometimes they stay the same or even improve.”

Looking ahead, Sapov believes in Cyprus’s potential, “Mobility and travelling are fast-growing industries. I think that in the future, Cyprus can become one of the world’s global centres for startups of this kind — and I would be happy to mentor some of them.”

The discussion was moderated by Jovanna M. Yiouselli, Invest Promotion Advisor, Invest Cyprus.
